Audio-phonological testing according to the method of Alfred Tomatis

Designed for children over 3 years old and adults.

It suggests the possibility to assess the level of perception of sound information in a child, follow the instructions of a specialist, show with his hand “I hear on the right”, “I hear on the left”, “I hear in the center”. In case of impossibility of such actions, a SENSORY PROFILE is compiled. With its help, it is possible to exclude the manifestations of sound hypersensitivity in the range of certain frequencies. The audio test can be conducted in short (11 frequencies) and long (25 frequencies) versions. For children with special needs and people with attention problems, a short test is given. The duration of the test is about 30 minutes.

The task of the study is to determine:

thresholds of air conduction of sound;

thresholds of bone conduction of sound;

– selectivity;

– auditory laterality.

How is it carried out?

Testing is carried out on an audiometer using air and bone conduction headphones. The research on the short version prevails (11 frequencies). First, the air conduction of the sound of the left ear is tested, and then the right ear. The response to each frequency is noted by the specialist in the graph. Then the bone conduction is tested first of the left and then of the right ear. Response points are marked by a specialist in the chart.

As a result of Audio-phonological testing, we obtain graphs of air and bone conduction curves of the left and right ears.

This allows us to determine the features in the perception and processing of sound information in the child. Based on the audio-phonological test, an individual therapy program “Tomatis” is compiled.
